McCune Mansion Inspiration Shoot - Utah Wedding Photographer

I'm so excited to be sharing this lovely shoot I had the opportunity to put together with Val from Flower  Afternoon. It was the perfect pick me up during our drab Utah winter to create this feminine, ethereal twist on a timeless beauty in classic setting. I loved being able to experiment with the dynamic indoor lighting at McCune Mansion and of course, the beautiful florals and details were a breath of fresh air. It's so much fun to take a break from the busy wedding season and focus solely on making something romantic and beautiful and shooting creatively.

It was easy to become inspired within the walls of the historic, 100+ year old McCune Mansion in Salt Lake City. The intricately carved furniture, crown molding, and natural wood that covers every surface felt like royalty. It was easy to let your mind dream of possibilities while wandering the ballrooms, long corridors and spiraling staircases.  To honor this beautiful establishment some aspects of the decor were kept soft and feminine to provoke a classic, romantic feeling while other aspects were designed to feel new-age and fresh with a burst of bright and cheerful colors- it trully awakened the mansion.

The floral styling compliments this stunning home with blooming branches that adorn the ballroom fireplace and for the table-scape - lush, garden-like arrangements designed in antique containers trailed by jasmine vine.  You'll see peach Juliet and Patience garden roses, ranunculus, larkspur and you can't ignore the sprightly, untamed poppies. Drooping or reaching towards the sky, they're sure to put a smile on your face.

A huge thanks to our supporting vendors for helping us execute our vision so perfectly. The Brides' Shop in Salt Lake City let us run around like kids in a candy store- Val and I not only found our dream gown, but they also provided every veil, head piece, bolero, belt and piece of jewelry that we used for the shoot. Studio Enizio killed it with the perfect high bun and such subtle but stunning makeup. Enizio is ALWAYS at the top of my list when I need hair and makeup artists! Meish Styling swooped in with the perfect boudoir piece and a much appreciated critical eye the day of the shoot. Paper goods and cake by Peter Loves Jane and Pippa Cakery were the perfect finishing touches to the pretty tablescape. And I must say, that cake tasted every bit as good as it looked! And of course, a big thank you to McCune Mansion for letting us take over the whole house for the morning.

2014 Utah Bride and Groom Magazine / One Fine Day / Fashion Editorial

In sharing this incredible shoot, I don't even know where to begin... in last year amidst a whirlwind of events, I became the pinch hitter so-to-speak and second shot the 2013 UBB Fashion Editorial with my long time partner in crime, Heather Nan. In doing so, we realized our collective strength and began to dream about the concepts we could pull off in a collaborative fashion spread. 3 different locations, a 10 different looks, no details spared. We started with the idea of a "getting ready" editorial, which molded into creating the editorial version of a perfect wedding day from morning to midnight, with a classic, Jacque Kennedy meets Grace of Monico, glamerous vibe. Heather and I nervously sat down to pitch our scheme to the UBG editor-in-chief extraordinaire, Val Rassmussen last spring. And to our surprise and delight, not only did Val take us up on the offer, but she fought endlessly to make our wild ideas a reality and delivered on every extreme request we dreamed up.  I must especially thank her for putting up with my extreme pickiness on style and detail in preparing for the shoot. The images you see below what I feel is some of the finest work I have ever produced, but also the product of a true partnership and collaboration with Val and Heather. While all of the images below are my images alone, I could never have shot these with any one but my bestie and "photo soul mate" Heather Nan Parkinson. See her take on the day here.  I hope you enjoy what was truly a labor of love and a LOT of blood, sweat, and tears (literally). I couldn't be prouder to present One Fine Day.

We could not be more thankful for our extraordinary vendors, I dare say we formed a dream team!
